Hanne Laurine Grimethsdatter Hansen was born on January 5, 1826 in Vester Porsgrunn, Norway. She died on June 25, 1896 in Ephraim, Utah. Her parents were Gremmet Hansen and Gunil Maria Hansen.

Hanne, whose father was a sailor, was born and lived in Vester Porsgrunn, Norway and was confirmed into the Lutheran church in October 1840. Sometime later, she left home and moved to Denmark where she met some missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint's and was baptized on September 15, 1852 on the island Amager when she was 26.

On May 9 of that same year, Hanne left Copenhagen on the steamer “Kiel”. The next day, she boarded a chartered train for Altona, before traveling to Grimsby, England. On May 14, the company traveled from Grimsby to Liverpool, and then set out for America on a large and fast clipper ship “Monarch of the Sea” with 955 passengers, who were also members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

After arriving in New York City, the company stayed in Castle Garden before leaving for Florence, Nebraska. Hanne traveled to the Salt Lake Valley in the John R. Murdock Company, arriving in September.

On October 18, 1862, she became the plural wife of Peder Hansen, who was also married to Johanne Margrethe, being sealed in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City. Hanne had no children of her own but cared for Johanne as she suffered through 12 years of illness. Johanne and Peder lived the rest of their lives in Ephraim, Utah and are buried next to each other in the old Ephraim Pioneer Cemetery.
