Ingeborg Andersson Larson Rosequist Johnson/Jonsson

Ingeborg was born on February 6, 1816 in Fossie, Malmohus, Sweden.  She died on July 14, 1866 in Ephraim, Utah.  Her parents are Anders S. Larson and Boel Anderdotter.

Ingaborg was the first of nine children.  Three of her brothers and two of her sisters lived to adulthood.  They lived ab out seven miles outside of Malmo, Sweden.

When Ingaborg was about 25-years-old she married Peter Rosequist.  They had two children, Johanna and Andrew, and lived in Malmo.  Peter died suddenly from cholera only eight years later forcing Ingaborg to work in a glove factory to support her two children ages seven and five.  She married Truls Jonsson two years later and had another daughter, Elna a year later.  Ingaborg and Johanna both continued at work in the glove factory.

Ingaborg was contacted by missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She joined the Church with her children and her youngest sister, Marna (Mary).  Marna was still living at home with her parents at the time and was told by her parents and her brothers that unless she renounced the Church they would disown her.  This she refused to do and left home with only the clothes she had on her back and walked the seven Swedish miles to her sister, Ingaborg's, home.

Ingaborg immigrated to the United States in 1862 with a company of others who had joined the Church.  Family lore is that she came with her three children and her sister leaving her husband in Sweden.  While I'm certain there were family on the docks trying to persuade them to stay in Sweden, her husband is listed as a passenger on the ship.  The remainder of the trip was taken by train to Quincy, Illinois, then steamboat to Florence, Nebraska, and by wagon train to Salt Lake City.  Her daughter, Elna, was baptized in 1862 but there is no record her husband, Truls was baptized before he died.

Ingaborg had friends in Tooele and hope to find work there.  Her daughter, Elna's brief history states that she immigrated with her parents to Tooele.  Ingaborg lived in Tooele until 1866.  Elna would have been about fourteen years when Ingaborg moved to Ephraim.  Truls and Elna married and both she and her father died in the Tooele area.

Johanna went to Ephraim to visit her mother and found Ingaborg ill.  Johanna stayed and cared for her mother until her death at only 49 years of age.
