Jens Anderson
Jens was born on the 29 April 1833 in Lund Malmuhus, Sweden. He died on 12 February 1914 in Ephraim, Utah. His parents wee Anders Paul Jonsson & Elna Andersdotter.

Jens was raised on a farm. In Ephraim, he helped clear of land of sage brush as well as digging canals to help water their crops. He also helped get timber off the mountains. He assisted in building the Fort in Ephraim. He was allotted 5 acres of land and a lot in the city. Crops were planted that year but the grasshopper took most of their crops that first year.
They were sent to Circle Valley to settle. One day and Indian Couple who had lost their papoose, came to Jens wanting to buy his 2-year-old daughter, Ellen. In great alarm they loaded their possessions and returned to Ephraim.
Jens actively participated in the Black Hawk War. He earned the rank of Sargent.
In 1877, he was called on a 2-year mission to Denmark and Sweden.
On June 22, 1878, a group of people from Ephraim and Mayfield, went on an outing to Funk's Lake. Jens' young daughter, Malinda, (11-years-old) was visiting with her cousins in Mayfield. She, with several others were in a boat that capsized, drowning all but two. There were 12 in the boat.
