Martha "Matta" Persson Andersson

Martha was born on June 1, 1812 in Sarslof, Malmohus, Swedsen.  She died on June 10, 1880 in Ephraim, Utah.  Her parents were Par Martensson and Marna Truedsson.

Martha was the mother of a six year old son, Peter, when she married Johannes Andersson.  They had four children and with Peter that made five.

They were baptized members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 17, 1857.  The worked for six years saving every bit of money they could to pay passage to America.  They left Liverpool on April 30, 1863, sailing on the ship "John J. Lloyd".

They left Florence, Nebraska on June 6, 1863 with the John Frank Sanders Church Train and arrived in the Valley on September 5, 1863.  They settled in Ephraim and then were called to go Circleville.  Chief Black had gone on the warpath and it was a terrifying time for the settlers especially those in small outlaying communities.  For safety reasons, President Young told them to gather in larger settlements, so they moved back to Ephraim.  They bought a lot and land. They also built a home there.
